Discover Scuba with Trident Divers
Have you ever wondered what it is like to breathe underwater? If so, then you may want to consider the Discover Scuba Program with Trident Divers. This is an entry level program designed to introduce non-divers to scuba diving. The entire program runs approximately 4 hours and provides participants an opportunity to scuba dive in confined or open water under closely controlled conditions.
Not Ready To Get Certified Yet?
We’ve all thought about it – what is it like to be under water with all those fish and the kelp? There is something very mesmerizing with all the muted sounds, and soft hues of blue, the gentle motion of the waves rocking back and fourth, and the experience of neutral buoyancy. But then you started thinking about the amount of time a scuba course might take, how expensive it might be, there is so much equipment…how will I ever master this?
This is the beauty of the Discover Scuba program – it puts you in the drivers seat for a day. It provides you an opportunity to experience first hand many of the things you’ve long wondered about, but without the time and expense of a full blown scuba course. An ideal opportunity to ask and answer the many questions you have prior to deciding to make that commitment.
Who can enjoy this program?
Most anyone can enjoy this experience. Of course there are some limitations – you must be 10 or older to participate, you must be in relative good condition and free from certain medical issues that can be disqualifying (ask your instructor what these are). You do not need to be a former high school swim star, nor do you need to be a science major in college – Discover Scuba really is designed to fit most needs.
This program is ideal for those vacationing in San Diego, and even for those who live here year round. The Learning Experience
Under the direct supervision of a Trident Divers NAUI certified instructor, you will be introduced to the type of equipment used in scuba diving. Participants are guided through assembling their scuba units and how to safely interact with the equipment in a controlled setting. You will also learn basic diving physics and how those principles affect our bodies while breathing compressed gases at depth.
Following the short ground based discussion participants are then taken to the water where they will practice these newly gained skills in shallow water. Once mastery of those skills is demonstrated we are ready to head out and explore – Discover Scuba participants will be guided on a tour of native aquatic wildlife, to a depth no greater than 20 feet.
By the end of this experience most will have a pretty good idea if scuba diving is something they are ready to pursue – and it only took you a couple of hours.
What do you need?
Bring a towel, sunscreen, and swimwear. Trident Divers will provide all essential equipment needed for the Discover Scuba program, including a wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device, weights, dive gauges, and a tank.
